Musharraf rejects pre-poll rigging

RAWALPINDI: President Pervez Mushrraf has reiterated the resolve that the forthcoming elections would be held in a free, fair and transparent manner and strongly rejected allegations about pre-poll rigging and ghost polling stations. Talking to a four member European Union election observers’ delegation that called on him at Presidential Camp office here on Wednesday, Musharraf made it clear that there will be no further delay in the holding of the elections.

The EU observers discussed concerns by some political parties and stressed that the EU wants free, fair and transparent elections. President Musharraf said that independent observers and media are free to monitor the election process and mentioned in detail the measures taken by the Election Commission that the entire process is transparent. The delegation informed the President that their first report would be ready within two days.-SANA
