ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology Dr. Abdullah Riar has urged the Telecom Foundation management to continue with its efforts in making the foundation a dynamic, efficient and viable organisation. “The foundation must adopt a creative vision and innovative ideas to run the organization in an efficient and sustainable manner to run its operations,” he said while attending a briefing by Telecom Foundation Managing Director Iftikhar Ahmad Raja at the inauguration ceremony of TF headquarters Building.
Dr.Riar said that he was honoured to inaugurate the TF Head Quarters building although it must be acknowledged that the real credit goes to his predecessors who have been at the forefront in the boom of Telecom Sector and the initiatives taken during their tenure have borne fruits for us to cherish.
The Minister was informed that the Foundation had carried out several projects successfully while many others were in progress to promote welfare of workers in the PTCL, Frequeny Allocation Board, NTC, PTA and other subsidiary departments. Dr Riar said that in the past 16 years TF has advanced to creating welfare infrastructure and subsidiary companies and has brought productivity into the national GDP. He said that this and many other welfare initiatives are worthy of appreciation.
Talking about politics on the sidelines of the ceremony, the Minister said that the mandate of the caretaker government stands very clear, to hold free, fair and transparent elections. The caretaker government, he said, is making every effort to ensure that the nation witnesses an election in an atmosphere that the winner would enjoy victory and the loser accepts the defeat. “We hope and pray to see that in the weeks to come,” he added.-SANA
