ISLAMABAD: Federal caretaker Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Afzal Haider has said that Pakistanis as a nation should familiarize themselves with the different languages spoken in the country in order to play a key role in nation building. The Minister stated this in a letter addressed to Director Institute of Punjab Language, Art and Culture, Dr. Shaista Nuzhat.
The Minister urged the administration of the Institute to accelerate the work of compiling Sindhi and Punjabi languages dictionary including idioms found common in both the languages. The dictionary should be made available for the scholars of the both languages in order to understand the cultures of each other, promote harmony, integrity and understanding among the masses of the country, the Minister maintained.
He also urged to complete the translation work of Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai’s mystic verses contained in a book entitled “Shah Jo Rasalo” into Punjabi language. It is important to mention here that half of the translation work of the “Shah Jo Rasalo” into Punjabi language has already been done by a Sikh scholar Kartar Singh Arsh, which was published by Sindh Cultural Department sometime back. It is need of the hour to spread the message of peace and brotherhood given by “Sufi” poets of the country for the welfare of the humanity, the Minister concluded.-SANA
