Aurakzai resigned due to differences, Qazi, Fazl

Islamabad: Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Sunday opposed the change of Governor NWFP stating that Gen® Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai was not satisfied with the policies of federal government in tribal areas. Talking to SANA, MMA Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Secretary General Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the new governor appointed by the federal government would be a puppet governor who won’t be interfering in provincial matters and allowing Army to continue the use of force against tribals.

“In our point of view governor Aurakzai was supporting dialogue strategy to resolve differences in tribal areas while Pervez Musharraf and US wants to solve the issue by the use of force, and obviously, this resulted in the resignation of Gen® Aurakzai,” Qazi said while adding that Army and government wants to continue the policy of using force in tribal areas.“It seems that due to current circumstances the NWFP Governor has resigned, because Army impose its own will in the tribal areas and in other parts of NWFP, said Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Head of its own faction of JUI.-SANA
