ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Hamid Nawaz has said that the Scotland Yard detectives would stay in Pakistan until the investigation is completed. Talking to a British TV channel, he said that the team was given updates of what the Pakistani investigation team has done so far and added that the Scotland Yard team would be very helpful in investigating the forensic evidences.
He rejected the claims that the evidence has been removed by washing the crime scene and said that the essential evidence was gathered from there before washing the crime scene. “The evidence has not been removed and the investigative team has evidence in its possession,” he said. He said the vehicle involved was there for evidence besides evidence available inside the vehicle. He said that dead bodies and human organs were lying there which does not make a good sight.
Commenting on PPP’s demand that investigation should be carried out by the United Nations, Hamid Nawaz said that earlier they said that foreign investigators should come and now they come with this demand. “Tomorrow they would say they don’t want the UN team and they want Russians. Later they would say they want American and they will demand Norwegians,” he said. There is no solution to this, he added. When asked whether the assistance of this team will resolve the issue and the real accused will be identified, the Interior Minister said, “We are saying that the capability of our own team is very good. It is for the credibility and acceptance of their demand that foreign experts have been invited to come.” If they don’t trust them, where will people come from, he added.-SANA
