Bhutto gave her life for country’s sake, democracy: Zardari

NAUDERO: Spouse of the slain PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari has said that Ms Bhutto sacrificed her life for Pakistan’s survival and democracy. Addressing a crowd that gathered on Benazir Bhutto’s Soyem on Sunday, Zardari said that Ms Bhutto had a political vision for this country and that has to carry on. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will continue and carry on Bhutto’s mission to see democracy flourish in Pakistan, he said.

He said that Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for democracy and “this great sacrifice of her will not go waste.” He called on the party workers to continue the struggle for democracy for which their beloved leader laid down her life. He also requested them to be united in their ranks, be calmed and work for the democracy by following the example of their slain leader. The PPP, he said, would leave no stone unearthed for the country’s security and stability.

Earlier, Quaran Khawani and special prayers were held for the salvation of soul of the PPP martyred Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, which was attended by thousands of people. Amid thousands of grieved people, the leaders of the party also attended the Quran Khawani. The people kept coming for the Quran Khawani in processions. When Asif Zardari came in the Pindal, the people started crying and weeping and offered their condolence to him. The participants burst into tears in the remembrance of their beloved leader.
