Security of former ministers tightened amid their harsh treatment of Bhutto

ISLAMABAD: Security of former federal ministers including Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Wasi Zafar, Secretary General PML (Q) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and former president Farooq Leghari has been increased amid their harsh statements against the slain PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, said a report of sensitive agencies.The report, which has been forwarded to the Interior Ministry, said that the angry supporters of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) pose great security threat to these leaders after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto as they issued very harsh statements against Bhutto.

Secretary Interior Ministry Syed Kamal Shah, when contacted, denied that the ministry received such report. He said that such reports are usually sent to the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) and that the ministry would consult with NCMC if such report existed. The Secretary however admitted that number of leaders including Mian Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhary Pervez Ilahi, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad and Amir Muqam are on the hit list of terrorists.

Earlier, reliable sources told SANA that there was serious security threat to former federal ministers including Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Wasi Zafar, Secretary General PML (Q) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and former president Farooq Leghari as they issued very harsh statement against the martyred PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

Former railway minister Shiekh Rasheed Ahmed was continuously issuing inflammatory statements against Ms Bhutto for the last two decades. Beside criticism on Bhutto’s personal life, Rasheed on some occasions termed Ms Bhutto as Phoolan Devi.Former information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani while a few days prior to Bhutto’s assassination, said about both Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto in a press conference that “King and Queen of corruption have returned back to the country for holidays.”-SANA
