ISLAMABAD: In a bid to contact the political leaders regarding holding of general election on schedule or otherwise, Caretaker Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro Saturday phoned JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and discussed with him the current prevailing situation in the country. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on the occasion, refused to attend the proposed All Parties Conference (APC) on the ground that it was not possible for the political parties to participate in any government sponsored APC meeting as the country is in deep crisis after assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Explaining his point of view, the JUI (F) Chief said that it was responsibility of the government to decide whether to hold or postponed the elections and not of the political parties. The political parties should not be dragged into the issue, he added. The Prime Minister also contacted the JUI (S) Chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq and discussed with him the prevailing situation of the country.-SANA
