KARACHI: The 131st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was celebrated on Tuesday in a befitting manner with a renewed pledge to transform Pakistan into a modern welfare Islamic state as envisioned by the great leader.
The day dawned with special prayers at mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country, followed by Fateha and Quran Khawani for Quaid-e-Azam. The government has declared a public holiday on this very occasion. A change of guard ceremony took place at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation here on Tuesday morning. A smartly turned out contingent of the cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul assumed the guard duties at the Mazar.
The Commandant of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul Major General Zahid Hussain Khan reviewed the parade and took the salute. He also laid the floral wreath at the mazar.
Representatives of the three services visited the mazar, offered ‘Fateha’ and laid floral wreaths.
Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan, Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Abdul Qadir Halepota and members of the provincial cabinet visited the Mazar to pay homage to the Father of the Nation. People from all walks of life visited the Mazar to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
A grand function entitled “Rehbar-e-Tareeq-o-Kamal” was also organized at the Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam on Tuesday evening. The National Museum of Pakistan is organizing a special exhibition to display the relics, historical documents, portraits and photographs pertaining to Quaid-i-Azam. The exhibition will remain open till December 31 from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours daily except Wednesday.-SANA
