ISLMABAD: Deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has appealed to the entire nation including lawyers community, civil society, media people and 160 people of the country to “fight till the last breath for supremacy of un-tampered constitution of 1973 and rule of law.”

In his message, issued here on Monday, he said that the atrocities by police agencies and government can never demoralize the nation. “It is a barbaric act committed by police and other agencies by torturing peaceful demonstrators,” Chaudhry said in his message. He said that peaceful protest is the right of every citizen of Pakistan as freedom of expression is enshrined under 1973 constitution.

He further said, “Look at the state of condition. Within a week, a blast in Quetta, Nowshera and Kohat but the police and agencies are deputed to arrest women, torture students, lawyers and media men protesting for the rule of law. Police and other Agencies are only focused to arrest Chief Justice of Pakistan, Judges and lawyers, where as wanted men can escape from their custody as only two or three policemen are there to guard them.

“It is highly deplorable and barbaric act of government which exposes its weakness and nervousness. Is Martial law or so called emergency lifted? Though it appears mere rhetoric….,” he concluded.-SANA
