Fazl asks JI to review its decision of polls boycott

ISLAMABAD: Ameer Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Monday asked Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to review its decision of boycott from the upcoming general elections. Addressing a press conference, he said that he will ask Qazi Hussain Ahmad to review his decision of boycott from the general elections as there is no need of adopting a separate way in the country’s politics. He said the participation in the election process is basically a part of routine politics. He said that the MMA’s Tuesday’s meeting will discuss the situation created after the APDM’s meeting and will ask the participants to look into the majority decision of parties.

The JUI (F) Chief said that he will try to persuade other parties to participate in the elections. He said that all political parties of the country must participate in the election process as objectives can be achieved by adopting democratic attitude. He said that his party was ready to have seat to seat adjustment with opposition parities, including PPP, however, the Bhutto’s party was not serious in this regard and gave negative statements in the press.

Replying a question, he said that the JUI (F) would not make any seat adjustment with any political party in NWFP and Balochistan. He, however, said the seat adjustment may be possible at the local level. The JUI-F candidates may decide about seat adjustments with local parties with their own choice, he added. To a question regarding any seat adjustment with PML (Q), he said if JUI was ready to have seat adjustment with the PPP and the PML (N) then why not with PML(Q).-SANA
