EC calls all parties for election symbols on Sunday

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the representatives of the political parties would be held in the Election Commission on Sunday for the allotment of the election symbols. The Election Commission has said that symbols will be allotted to those parties which have complied with the provisions of Political Parties Order, 2002 and the rules framed there under.

Meanwhile, the Applet Tribunals continued hearing of the appeals filed against the acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers by the Returning Officers. The process will be completed by Friday, December 14. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers upto December 15 while final lists of the contesting candidates will be published on December 16.

In an interview, Secretary of the Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad has said that the Commission is making comprehensive arrangements for holding of the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. He said the printing of the ballot papers will start from December 17 while the distribution of transparent ballot boxes to the District Returning Officers is in progress and will be completed in ten days time.-SANA
