ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro has urged for a comprehensive housing scheme for the federal government employees.In a meeting with Nisar Mohammad Khan, Minister for Housing and Works, the Premier asked for an effective housing scheme in Islamabad and other cities. The shortage of houses, he said, is causing great inconvenience to the government servants both officers and staff, besides opening up avenues of malpractices.
The Prime Minister asked the Ministry to look for alternative sources of financing the housing schemes if it was facing the problems of funds. He also advised the Ministry to look at the feasibility to seek support and assistance from the private sector, with the objective to ensure provision of appropriate housing facility to the federal government employees.
The Minister apprised the Prime Minister that his Ministry is already involved in preparing a policy to address the housing problems of the government servants. He assured that under the directions of the Prime Minister the Ministry of Housing and Works would urgently initiate an exercise to prepare a comprehensive plan of housing schemes for the federal government servants in Islamabad and subsequently for other cities in the shortest possible time.-SANA
