Turk media delegation meets Minister of Religious Affairs

ISLAMABAD: The Turk media delegation, led by Bahadir Salim, held a meeting with the Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr. Vakil Ahmad Khan, Secretary, Religious Affairs was also present on the occasion.

Talking to the Turkish media delegation, the Secretary briefed the delegation about the role, functions and objectives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr in Pakistan. The Federal Secretary informed the visiting delegation about the measures and policy being taken by the government of Pakistan for reformation of Deeni Madaris in Pakistan.

Khan also briefed the delegation about the composition of Muslim population including various sects and schools of thought comprising Christians, Hindus and Budhists in the country. The Secretary informed the delegation about measures being taken by the government for the welfare of minorities in Pakistan. The Federal Secretary informed the delegation about the system of Zakat, its modus operandi for collection and its disbursement. He also briefed the delegation about the composition, role and objectives of the Central Zakat Council, Council if Islamic Ideology in Pakistan.

The delegation appreciated the measures being taken by the Government of Pakistan, for the reformation of Deeni Madaris and religious and contemporary education being imparted by the Madaris.
