LAHORE: US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Peterson has urged all the political parities to participate in the upcoming general elections.In a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League (N) Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here, they discussed the prevailing political situation in Pakistan and the Pak-US relations.
The American Ambassador said her country desires that all the political parties should take part in the elections so that a smooth continuity of the democratic process can be ensured in Pakistan.She said that the United States wants the election in Pakistan to be free, fair and transparent. She hoped that elections would be held in a fair manner and added that United States would remain neutral.
During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif appraised the US envoy on the reasons due to which APDM had decided to boycott the elections. Nawaz Sharif said that without the reinstatement of the judges there was no possibility of holding free, fair or transparent elections in Pakistan.Later, talking to newsmen, the PML (N) Chief said that he emphasized upon the American Ambassador that Washington should also play its role for the restoration of the judiciary without which transparent elections can not be ensured.
