LAHORE: The nomination papers of former Prime Minister and PML (N) Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for NA-120 were rejected. His nomination papers were rejected on the ground of various cases against him including Plane-hijacking case, and being a bank defaulter. As per details, opposing PML (Q) candidate Khwaja Tahir Zia and a voter from NA-120 constituency Shahid Aurakzai have challenged the nomination papers of PML (N) Chief on various grounds.
Khwaja Zia, in his objections, claimed that Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from contesting elections for 21 years in Plane-hijacking case, besides being a bank defaulter. While Aurakzai pointed out attack on the Supreme Court in his objections on Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers.
Returning Officer Qamar Zaman dismissed the objections leveled by Aurakzai but accepted Khwaja Tahir Zia’ objections and rejected the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif.Nomination papers of Pervez Malik, covering candidate for Nawaz Sharif for the same constituency has already been accepted. It is pertaining to remember that younger brother of Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination papers have also been rejected by the Election Commission.
