Scrutiny of nomination papers in progress

ISLAMABAD: The scrutiny of nomination papers filed for January 8 elections of National and Provincial Assemblies continued on Friday and it will be completed on Monday next. During the scrutiny, the papers of Benazir Bhutto, Asfandyar Wali, Elahi Bakhsh Soomro, Liaquat Jatoi, Habibullah Warraich, Pervaiz Malik, Ayaz Sadiq, Zulfiqar Mirza, Fahmida Mirza, Ejaz Jakhrani, Ikhlaq Hussain Abidi and Liaquat Baloch were found correct and accepted.

The nomination papers of a candidate of PPP Islamuddin Sheikh for National Assembly seat NA-198 was rejected. Meanwhile, the political parties and candidates will be allotted symbols on the 15th of next month for the general elections. The political parties have already submitted their applications for the allotment of symbols, which will be reviewed in the commission’s meeting on Monday.-SANA
