ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with the Indian High Commission in Islamabad for declining Indian visa to the federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad. The Minister wanted to visit Mohali as a gesture of support and encouragement to Pakistan’s cricket team. However, the High Commission declined the visa without assigning any reason.
The Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner and a strong protest was lodged with regard to refusal of the visa. The Indian envoy was told that the refusal was ‘not in keeping with the normal practice as well as efforts to improve relations between the two countries
