NEW YORK: Pakistan has protested to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon for issuing a statement in which the UN chief voiced concern over the internal developments in Pakistan. The protest was conveyed to the Secretary General by Pakistan Ambassador to UN Munir Akram.
“Akram met Secretary General and conveyed his protest on the issuance of a statement by him regarding the internal developments in Pakistan,” a statement released by the Pakistani mission said.
During the meeting the Ambassador explained to Ban Ki-Moon the grave and multiple challenges which had compelled the Pakistan government to declare the state of emergency. “The Permanent Representative explained to the Secretary General the grave and multiple challenges which had compelled the government of Pakistan to declare the Emergency.”
He said: “Governance continues as close as possible to the Constitution with the Cabinet, Assemblies, Governors and other organs of the state functioning normally.” “This can be achieved through the co-operation of all political forcers,” he added.-SANA
