ISLAMABAD:Scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the Presidential election will be held in Islamabad on Saturday. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retired) Qazi Mohammad Farooq will conduct the scrutiny of papers. Forty three candidates have filed seventy one nomination papers. President Pervez Musharraf, the unanimous candidate of the PML and its allies, Makhdoom Amin Fahim of PPP and Retired Justice Wajheeuddin Ahmad of the Lawyers community are the prominent contestants for the office.
The candidature could be withdrawn on Monday up to 12 noon, and the final list will be published on the same day at 1.00 pm. The Polling will be held at the Parliament House in Islamabad and the Provincial Assembly buildings in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta from ten in the morning to three in the afternoon on sixth of next month.-SANA
