Police thrashes, baton charges journalists

ec-nomintaionjournalist.JPG ISLAMABAD: Scores of journalists and cameramen were also beaten up while they were covering the protests outside the Election Commission of Pakistan on the occasion of scrutiny of the nomination papers of the presidential candidates. Policemen used baton charge, teargas and pelted stones at newsmen causing injuries to at-least 20 journalists while some of them were fainted in the police action.

He was rushed to Polyclinic hospital where the doctors conducted x-ray of his chest. Police baton charge media crew of TV channel ARY One World and also beaten up Bureau Chief of a TV Channel APNA Mazhar Barlos. Zarar Khan, a reporter of Associated Press, was also thrashed and ruthlessly beaten by the police. The police baton charged him so brutally that he got sever deep cuts on his lips.

ec-nomintaion-gas-and-smoke-police.JPG Police also severely has beaten Naim Ahmed Khan, cameraman of Rohi channel who later fainted and who was rushed to Alshifa Hospital. Naim Khan has not regain his senses till the filling of this report. Camera of a private TV channel “Royal” was also broken by the police. Policemen also cut cables of media cameras and ordered newsmen to leave the area.-SANA
