PM assures free, fair presidential election

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the presidential election will be held in a free, fair and democratic manner as envisaged by the constitution. He was talking to President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary General of PML Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani and Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid, who called on him. Mr. Shaukat Aziz said that General Pervez Musharraf will be successful in the Presidential election as PML and coalition partners have the desired strength in the assemblies to ensure his re-election.

The meeting also reviewed the political situation in NWFP, the strategy for the Presidential as well as upcoming general elections in the country. The participants expressed confidence that re-election of President Pervez Musharraf will take the country forward on the path of the progress, prosperity and development. The Prime Minister said that the PML and coalition partners will contest the next general elections on the basis of their performance in office and will come out victorious. He said that the structural reforms undertaken by the present government has improved the standard of living of the people and this has increased the popularity of PML government.

pm-nato.JPG Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed Chairman Senator’s Committee on Foreign Relations also presented the report on Pakistan-NATO relations. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of foreign relations committee of the senate in finalizing the report on Pakistan-NATO relations. He said it would give the readers a insight into Pakistan commitment to peace and its role in war against terrorism.-SANA
