ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the historic decision of the Supreme Court announced has established the supremacy of law, constitution and parliament as well as the independence of judiciary. The Prime Minister said this while talking to a delegation of MQM which, led by Deputy Convener of the party Dr. Farooq Sattar who called on him at the PM’s House here on Friday to congratulate him soon after the announcement of the court’s verdict. Shaukat Aziz said this decision of the Supreme Court has confirmed that Pakistan would continue on the path of progress and prosperity. He said the process of presidential election which was started on yesterday (Thursday) would be completed on October 6 in a peaceful and amicable manner.
He said the decision of Supreme Court was according to law and constitution and the opposition parties should also accept it, as has been done by the government on previous occasions. During the meeting MQM leader Altaf Hussain and Secretary General Dr. Imran Farooq also congratulated the Prime Minster on telephone and said that this decision of the Supreme Court would ensure political stability in the country. The members of the delegation hailed the decision of the Supreme Court and said that continuity and consistency of the policies initiated by the present government is very important for the future of the country. Other members of the delegation included Babar Khan Ghori, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Shamim Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Communication and Iqbal Mohammad Ali Khan, Federal Minister for Housing and Works.-SANA
