30 people had been detained in twin-cities, SC informed

KARACHI: The Supreme Court was informed on behalf of Chief Secretary Punjab during the hearing on a suo moto notice regarding the blockade of roads in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on the complaint of Justice Jamshed Ali that only one person was taken into custody under MPO while twenty-nine other were taken into custody under Section 188. The court observed that the Section 188 is bailable therefore all the persons should be released immediately and the scrutiny of such persons should be expedited.

The court was informed that there was no blockade of roads in the provinces of Sindh and the NWFP and neither any arrest was made in this regard. The court was informed on behalf of Chief Secretary Balochistan that fifty-three persons have been arrested on the charges of terrorism while no one person was taken into custody under MPO or Section 188.The court has disposed of the hearing of suo moto notice.-SANA
