Ahmad Mukhtar acquitted in textile irregularity case

LAHORE: Accountability Court Lahore exonerated a central leader of Peoples Party and former Federal Minister of Commerce Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar from a reference about irregularities in textile quota. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had registered the reference against Ahmed Mukhtar in Accountability Court Lahore after dissolution of Benazir Bhutto government in 1996. He was charged with irregularities in textile quota for backward areas during his ministerial tenure.Accountability Judge Ahsan Ahmed acquitted the formal federal minister as NAB failed to produce evidence to substantiate the charges against him.-SANA
