ISLAMABAD: Seventeen government officials and senior politicians who proposed and seconded the candidature of General Pervez Musharraf for re-election in the presidential elections would submit Musharraf’s nomination papers on Thursday. According to a private TV channel quoting reliable sources that the President General Musharraf would not submit his nominations papers personally. The ruling PML (Q) and it allies in this regard held two different meetings in the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to discuss matters related to nomination papers of President Musharraf and drew final strategy for the submission of the papers.
Sources said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, President PML (Q) Chaudhary Shujat Hussain, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Shepao, MQM leader Farooq Sattar, Veteran politicians Hamid Nasir Chatta, Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari and other leaders who proposed and seconded Musharrf’s name for the top slot would submit the nomination papers on behalf of President General Musharraf in the Election Commission of Pakistan from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon today on Thursday. Chief Ministers of Sindh and Balochistan also held a separate meeting with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and discussed with him matters related to nomination papers of President General Pervaiz Musharraf.-SANA
