Clarification from Election Commission

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission has clarified that presence of the candidate for Presidential elections, National or Provincial Assemblies was not compulsory for getting the nomination papers from the offices of Registration, Assistant Election Commissioner and Deputy Election Commissioner.

Any person could get the nomination papers by applying a hand written application from the concerned registration officer, said spokesperson of the Election Commission. The spokesperson clarifies an editorial in a national daily, as saying that the newspaper by mistake reported that candidate’s presence was compulsory for attaining nomination papers for Presidential elections, National or Provincial Assemblies.-SANA
