VCs review law and order situation in campuses

PESHAWAR: NWFP Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai in a meeting with Vice Chancellors of six universities of the province discussed host of issues relating to the public sector universities and maintenance of law and order in the university campuses.The meeting held here on Monday at the Governor House and was attended by the Vice Chancellors of Peshawar, Hazara, Malakand, Engineering and Technology, Agriculture and Khyber Medical Universities and Secretary to Governor, Secretary Higher Education and Director Institute of Management Sciences.

While taking notice of the recent incidence of crime in the Peshawar University campus, the Governor stressed the need for taking concrete measures in this regard and directed the University administrations to ensure that peace and security prevails and the academic activities do not suffer. Vice Chancellor Hazara University informed the Governor about the Free Quality Education Project for poor but talented students of backward areas. The university, he said, recently held test for the selection of candidates from remote areas of NWFP and FATA for admission to quality educational institutions of the province. Governor Aurakzai was informed that a total of 1445 candidates appeared in the test and the final selection process was under the consideration of the respective committee.-SANA
