PM mourns loss of lives in bridge tragedy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property during the collapse of a portion of Northern By-Pass Bridge in Karachi on Saturday, saying the people responsible for substandard construction of the bridge would be taken to task. Prime Minister expressed his concern over the quality of construction of the bridge and said that investigations have been ordered to find the reasons of the collapse and people responsible for substandard construction would be taken to task. He directed the Minster for Communications Shamim Siddiqui that strict action must be taken against the people responsible for the incident.

Shaukat Aziz expressed his condolences with the families of the people who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant fortitude to the bereaved families to bear this loss. The Prime Minister also spoke to the Governor and Chief Minister Sindh on telephone and directed them to provide early compensation to the victims’ families and proper medical care and relief to the injured.-SANA
