ISLAMABAD:Tasneem Aslam, Ambassador designate of Pakistan to Italy on Saturday exchanged views with President Islamabad Chambers of Commerce in Industry (ICCI) and stressed on the importance of creating business linkages with Italian Entrepreneurs for transfer of technology and technical training to people for requirement knowledge of modern technology. She said that Pakistan produced abundance of fruit and vegetables, but due to lack of processing and preservation of technology, about 40 percent fruit go wasted. She highlighted importance of packing and consistence of supply of goods of International standards to capture and sustained in the international market.
She said Pakistan has great potential in export of marble, mango, rice and gems stones in European Union markets. She asked to focus on standardization and consistent supply of goods for export to the European market. She assured of creating more business linkages with Italian companies in exchanging information’s with the Chambers of both the countries.President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Nasir Khan stressed on the importance of import of machinery at zero rated tariff from Italy and other countries for the enhancement of industrialization.
This, he said, would introduce latest technology especially in the field of marble, mining, textile, gems stones and fruit processing. He said that Pakistan needs to improve infrastructure to attract more foreign investment in the country and also to encourage local investment.-SANA
