PM confident to win elections

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that PML is well positioned to improve its electoral results in the upcoming general election. He was talking to the Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Mohammad Yousaf, who called on him at the Prime Minister House. Prime Minister said that as a result of extensive developments taking place in Baluchistan, economic activities has increased many fold and has created job opportunities and increased income level of the people of the province during the last eight years.

He said that President Musharraf has personally taken a lot of initiatives to build mega projects including Gwadar port, Coastal Highway, Mirani Dam and now Sabakzai Dam which is to be inaugurated next week. In addition, micro level interventions for micro credit, health, education, roads, clean drinking water and sanitation have also been given emphasis, he added. He said better representation in the government jobs, especially federal quota for Balochistan has been increased to six percent so as to give more representation to the people of the province in federal services.

He maintained that there is a huge potential in Balochistan in the oil and gas, agriculture, and mining sectors. He said due to overall economic policies of the government, projects like Saindak and Ricodik are becoming a reality. The Chief Minister updated the Prime Minister on the efforts to mobilize the party in the province and gear up for the upcoming general elections.He said that the development agenda and improving standards of living is recognized by the people as a major contribution of PML government to improve the future of the people of Balochistan. He appreciated the federal government’s assistance and the personal visits to the flood affected areas by the President and the Prime Minister which was a great support.-SANA
