ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Tuesday said President Pervez Musharraf would decide the issue of uniform according to law and Constitution. Talking to a private television, the Minister said the President has made up his mind and he himself will come up with a statement on the issue of uniform.Earlier, while address a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that all issues had been resolved between the government and PPP and only the issue of a third-term for a twice elected Prime Minister was left to be sorted out.
The PPP Chairperson told a British newspaper that General Musharraf has agrees to relinquish as army chief prior to his election as civilian President. Sheikh Rashid called the uniform of President General Pervez Musharraf a non-issue. He said President Musharraf has the required votes to get himself elected, adding after re-election of the President, certain political issues will be resolved.
The Minister said talks are being held with different parties to increase credibility of the ongoing political process. He said some people want to create a new political Environment. The statements from opposition show that the issue of uniform is going to be resolved. He said: “politicians are playing with sentiments of people to enter into power.” The government is focussing on holding free and fair elections, he said.-SANA
