ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that tribal areas have always played an important part to maintain Pakistan’s security, solidarity and sovereignty. He was talking to Senator Hameed Ullah Afridi who called on him at Prime Minister House. The Prime Minister said government is taking several initiatives to have a peaceful environment in the tribal areas so that the people of the area benefit and improve their quality of life.
He said government is giving more assistance and development schemes for the tribal areas, and Pakistan eagerly awaiting the passage of legislation related to the establishment of Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs) which will usher in a new era of economic development, investment and job creation in the tribal areas. The Premier said that the tribal population had always worked for the solidarity, security and sovereignty of Pakistan. The government has increased substantially the development budget for the area to build roads, schools, hospitals and providing basic necessities of life to the tribal people, he added.
Hameed Ullah Afridi appreciated the interest and efforts of the President and the Prime Minister to promote developments in the tribal areas and the efforts made by the law
enforcement agencies to ensure peace in area. He said that tribals are peaceful people and support the government in their efforts to make Pakistan an Islamic, progressive and moderate country where everyone can live according to traditions and Islamic values.-SANA
