Rehmani urges Indian MPs to raise voice for army withdrawal

ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Convenor All Parties Hurriyet Conference and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, has urged the visiting Indian parliamentarians to raise their voices in both the Houses of Indian Parliament Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for early withdrawal of the armed forces from the held valley in order to bring durable peace in the region.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday he said if they (parliamentarians) were really serious about durable peace in the region, then they should raise their voice in the parliaments for the right of self-determination and fundamental rights of Kashmiris. He also asked for repealing the “harsh laws like the AFSPA”, saying only these measures would augment well for the current Indo-Pak confidence building measures (CBMS). Rehmani said Kashmir was not like other provincial issues of India. It was a very serious dispute connected with the right of self determination of the people of the state, he added. He said that Kashmiris should be granted their right of self-determination, if India and Pakistan had to cement their mutual cultural and commercial ties.-SANA
