PVF announces squad for 14th Volleyball Championship

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has announced the eleven-member national volleyball team for 14th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship which will starts from August 31 at the Indonesian capital Jakarta. According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Pakistan PVF secretary Major (retd) Muhammad Afzal said 17 countries including host Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thai Land, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Qatar, Tai Pei, Maldives, Korea, Iran, Vietnam, Pakistan, China, India, Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Austria are contesting in the mega event which will be conclude on September 9.

Pakistan will play its first match against strong Iran while green shirts would take on Vietnam on September 2 on their second encounter. The team which will wins both its matches will qualify for the next round. As per schedule Iran will face Vietnam, Qatar will face Tai Pei, Thailand will meet Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Kazakhstan will meet each other on August 31, the first day of the competition .

Secretary PVF said that Pakistan squad left for Indonesia on Wednesday and Muhammad Zaman Butt, who leads green shirts in the last three international championships, retains his captainship in the 14th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship. Pakistan team includes Muhammad Zaman Butt (Captain) Irfan Nawaz, Syed Ishfaque Hussain, Naseer Ahmed, Farooq Khan, Muhammad Ismail Khan, Sanaullah, Bakht Rasal, Naeem Jan, Kashif Mansoor and Mohib Rasool. Bulgarian Stefan G. Dimitrov is with the team as coach while Muhammad Akram and Najum-ul-Hasnan Sajid will be team officials.-SANA
