LONDON: Prominent lawyer and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ehsan has said that party’s Chairperson Benazir Bhutto is very cautious and would never strike a deal with Musharraf if it is against the wishes and aspirations of the general public. In an interview with BBC, he said that Benazir Bhutto has adopted a very cautious approach in her dealing with the government and would not strike a deal with Musharraf, who according to him “is perhaps the most hated person in Pakistan”.
He termed that the allegations made against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as baseless and unjustified. Millions of people protested against the government and 80 to 90 thousands people took to the streets in major cities like Peshawar, Multan, Abbot Abad and Faisalabad. He said that it is not very easy to hold talks with person like Musharraf that everyone is in contacts with the government at some level. He hoped that Benazir would succeed in negotiations with the government keeping in view pros and cons of the deal.-SANA
