ISLAMABAD: President General Musharraf reviewed the production, transmission and distribution of gas and electricity in the country. In this regard a meeting chaired by President Pervez Musharraf here reviewed the previous and upcoming developmental programmes of the concerned authority. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was also present on the occasion. In its briefing, Ministry of Petroleum informed that previously gas was provided to 1000 villages in a year but the present government has increased this figure to 15000 villages.
Ministry of Water and Power informed the meeting that during last five year WAPDA has provided electricity to 51000 villages. The President and the Prime Minister while appreciating the efforts of both the Ministries emphasized that because of the fast pace of development in the country, Pakistan needs increased production of energy.-SANA
