Karachi May 29: All vulnerable points, of protective embankments along with Indus River would be strengthening and a handsome amount under the guide line of well experienced irrigation consultants were being spent in this regard, any kind of slackness while maintaining quality and standard of work would not be tolerated. These observation were made by Sindh Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Tourism, Mr. Mohammad Ayaz Soomro while talking to media after taking aerial view and visiting various protective embankments here today.

Mr. Ayaz Soomro further informed that President Asif Ali Zardari desired to complete the repair and strengthening work of the protective embankments prior to upcoming flood season. He further said that Sindh province depends on agriculture sector, which was backbone of our economy; we have lost precious lives and properties during last high flood, it’s our collective and national duty to prove himself a responsible nation while utilizing all out efforts to secure International standard irrigated system like Sukkur Barrage, Guddu Barrage and Kotri Barrage and its command areas and canals.

He further said that river forests and trees were the natural guards of River Indus as well as overall environment, which have been destroyed badly. It is pre-requisite to develop nurseries of trees and everybody residing in the katcha and pacca area should plant a sapling while celebrating tree plantation days to make environment healthy, which now have been polluted and alarming hazard for the all kinds of animals including human being.

Law Minister further revealed that Sindh government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has chalked out a comprehensive program to rehabilitate the flood effected people and development work in the affected areas is going on. He added, ” PPP is the representative party of downtrodden people and depend on the power of people, we have come into power by the clear cut mandate of the people and never believe back-doors or undemocratic means.”

Mr. Ayaz Soomro further said that we were democratic and patriotic; it was our collective responsibility to playing our due role, work hard and foil the all kind of conspiracies hatched by anti democratic elements, who don’t want to strengthen democracy in the country. Sindh Law Minister further said that Sindh government was enduring hard to provide relief to the people in next budget, which would be people’s friendly budget. Mr. Ayaz Soomro said that Sindh government planned to create more job opportunities ‘for the job less youth and various training programs were being introduced to make skilled of youths. He concluded.
