Power crisis worsens in Balochistan as miscreants blow up 220 KV line
QUETTA: Unknown miscreants on Friday blew up the 220 kilovolts (KV) electricity transmission line between Uch-Sibbi-Quetta at two different locations adding additional 250 megawatts shortfall in the province’s electricity crisis National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) officials addressing a press conference in QESCO here in Quetta told miscreants disconnected the main transmission line at Bakhtiar Abad and Chakrra with explosive material.
They said, to compensate with shortfall, QESCO will distribute the 250 megawatts’ deficit among the 42 grid stations connected with its system. QESCO requested its consumers to curtail the unnecessary usage of electricity and absolutely stop retrain from using the electricity heaters during peak hours between 6 pm. to 12 pm.
Meanwhile A complete shutter down strike was observed in the Provincial capital Quetta against the load shedding of gas and electricity here on Friday on the call of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan Quetta. As per details, Shutter down strike was observed over the call of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan against suspension of gas and electricity load shedding for last 13 days in different areas of Balochistan including provincial capital Quetta.
It is to be mention that unknown miscreants blew up two gas supply lines with explosive material in Dera Murad Jamali few days back and due to this, the supply of gas was suspended to different areas of Balochistan. Crisis of LPG gas cylinder has also been growing up in different areas of Balochistan.
Fifteen days back unknown miscreants blew up power supply tower with explosive material in the area of Bolan and due to this the supply of electricity to more than 15 Districts was suspended. People of Balochistan were in great trouble due to the load shedding of electricity. 8 hours in Quetta and 20 hours in internal areas of Balochistan had paralyzed all business activities in the province.
All markets remained closed including Jinnah road, Liaqat Market, Sooraj Gung Market, Kansi road, Meeka road, Mosque road, Abdul Sattar road, Fatima Jinnah road and Prince road in this regard and traffic on roads remained thinner than usual.
Different political parties including Itehad-e-Tajraan-e-Balochistan, Pashtoon Awami Milli Party, JUI Nazariati party, ANP and others was favored the strike and demanded of the government to set up a new transmission line directly from Dera Ismail Khan to Zhob and also ensured the security of supply lines in Balochistan. President Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan, Muhammad Raheem Kakar, Yaseen Mangle, Syed Taaj and others addressed the protest rallies and visited different area.-ONLINE
