FIA violating law to support associates involved in Hamesh Khan’s escape
Islamabad: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Friday said that Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) is violating law to defend their colleagues involved in escape of Hamesh Khan from Peshawar Airport. Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW said that the name of Hamesh Khan, former President and CEO of Bank of Punjab, was put on Exit Control List on 25th of April 2008 but he managed to fly out of the country.
The then Advisor Interior Mr. A Rehman Malik suspended four officials on 20th July 2008 including Assistant Director Immigration Inamullah Khan Gandapur, Inspector Naeem Khan, Sub Inspector Zahir Arbab and ASI Humaira Abbasi.
Five days later, an FIR No. 120/2008 was lodged against the accused. Later the accused secured bail and later managed to get the inquiry of the case transferred to Special Investigations Unit, at FIA Head Quarters, Islamabad where they were exonerated.
Later, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, FIA put the case in the court of Judicial Magistrate VII Tariq Abbas. However, the magistrate raised serious observations on departmental findings and sent final report (challan) back for finalisation of probe on merit.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that the case was never submitted again in the court for trial despite lapse of 1.5 years. An investigation officer is bound to submit case in court within 15 days under section 173 Cr.P.C, he said. It is interesting to note that one of the accused Inspector Naeem and an the inquiry officer Inspector Safir Hussain Shah has been promoted as Assistant Directors while the main accused got favourable recommendations from superiors.
Government took a lot of pain and invested millions to bring Hamesh back that should be recovered from those who facilitated his escape and are enjoying patronage of FIA, Dr. Murtaza Mughal demanded. He asked CJP to take notice of issue and order investigations so that those playing with the legal system should be taken to task.

Feel sorry for Dr Murtaza Mughal that he did not even verify the breaking news and twisted it to achieve some goal, Hamesh Khan is back in the country in May 2010 and its been almost 8 months passed, Dr Mughal suddenly start projecting wrong news in December 2010. Inspector Naeem is still an Inspector and he is not promoted . Assistant Director is still an Assistant Director and not promoted. ASI is same ASI.
