BEIJING: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khan thanked Xinhua for embedding its journalists with the rescue and relief missions sent to Pakistan for the flood affectees, as reports filed by them from the affected areas effectively highlighted the suffering of the people because of this natural calamity.

He was talking to the Vice President of Xinhua, China’s leading news agency at Xinhua headquarters on Friday. The Ambassador was also given a detailed briefing on the working of Xinhua 08, the financial service platform of Xinhua news agency.

He was informed that starting in 2007, Xinhua 08 has more than 100 bureaus around the world, which issue about 10,000 news items every day from 55 industry sectors as well as politics from around the world. Mr. Lu Wei expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss to life and property in Pakistan due to recent floods.

Ambassador Masood Khan said the relations between Pakistan and China have grown from strength to strength during the past 60 years. He also appreciated the timely, generous and unconditional aid given by the Chinese government and people. He regarded this support as extremely helpful in providing immediate relief to the people.

The meeting agreed on promoting media relations between Pakistan and China. Mr. Liu expressed said that Xinhua would collaborate with Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing for arranging events in connection with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, next year. -Xinhua
