LHC reserves verdict in NAB chief appointment case
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved the judgment in case of appointment of former Justice Syed Deedar Hussain as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman on Friday.Justice Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry of the LHC heard the constitutional petition today against the appointment.
The petitioner, Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey, submitted that Deedar was not competent for the post and his appointment was against the constitution because according to the 18th Amendment, consultation with the chief justice of Pakistan and the opposition parties was necessary for this appointment.
He claimed that 15 constitutional clauses had been violated in the appointment of Deedar. Deedar had served as the Sindh High Court chief justice and was later elevated to the Supreme Court and is the first NAB chairman from judiciary.-SANA

This matter was heard by Senior Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chodhry Sahib , an excellent Justice at the LAHORE HI COURT on Friday and his decision is expected on Monday, inshawLAW.
Barrister Jafree (Correct spellings!) also presented the court a brochure on Deedar, sdernt by Janab Nawab Mumtaz Bhutto from Larekanass to Barrister Syyed MNohammed Jawaid Iqbal Jafree of Slarpore whom the Lahore High Court in 2007 described as “A WORLD CLASS PUBLIC INTEREST LAWYER”.
Jafree pleaded berfore the court that a paradigm shift is desperately needed the postNEW NATIONAL JUDICIAL POLICY CONTEXT .. sothat Equal Opportunity is honestly and functionally fructified and rehabbed in Pakistan and pakistan stops its gushing-erosion into oblivion and gklobal community stops chiding it as an irretrievable failure. Lately even peonic, qasid and clerical jhobs were being sold from 5 Lakhs to 10 Lakhs., High jobs are given for kickbacks.. to intermnediates and disco operators. That Prim e Minister’s wife was inv ollved in Rs 575 CRORE fraud (a Writ in Sup Ct against that is pendin g, filed by Barrister Zafar Khan) and jobs are being auctioned to ensure that pakistan self-destructs.
Jafree described the mediocre and sycophantic “credentials” of Deedar who is chameleon and lacks integrity and vision.
That Equal Opportunity is the law of the land, it is not of recent vintage, but conferred by God since time immemorial.
