ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has been moved against the appointment of Justice (R) Deedar Hussain Shah as the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Petitioner Shahid Orakzai said in his petition that new chairman was appointed against the will of National Assembly and without fulfilling the Constitutional and legal requirements.

Petition also demanded Justice (R) be removed from the office and new Nab chief be appointed in compliance with the Constitutional and legal requirements. Meantime, Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to defendants including the federal government and Didar Hussain to appear before court on October 21 on the Constitutional petition against the appointment of Didar as Nab chief.

The SHC also sought the services of former Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan to assist the court. The SC court counsel Rashid A Akhund said in his constitutional petition that the appointment of Justice (R) Didar was not made in accordance with the cases of Asfandyar Wali and Dr Mubashshir Hasan, as the President is bound to take advice of the Leader of Opposition, the PM and Chief Justice of Pakistan.-SANA
