Pakistan, Tunis to enhance trade volume
ISLAMABAD: Mourad Bourehla, Ambassador of Tunis has stressed that it is the need of the hour that Pakistan and Tunis should explore new avenues of trade and investment. The ambassador visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to congratulate the newly elected President of the ICCI Mahfooz Elahi.
On the occasion, he highlighted the great potential of trade with Tunis and urged to exchange the trade delegations by holding trade exhibitions.
He said that Pakistan and Tunis was enjoying very old traditional and religious relations adding the Chambers of Commerce and Industries of both the countries could play their active role to motivate the business community and investors to invest in each other country.
In order to enhance trade ties between the two countries, the ambassador agreed for Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tunis Chamber and ICCI. He also agreed to invest in Pakistan in its energy sector to bring the country of out its energy crises. In his welcoming address, Mehfooz Elahi,the President of ICCI also emphasized upon the need of promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
He said being Islamic countries Pakistan and Tunis were enjoying very cordial and friendly relationship, but the trade volume between both the countries was very low which he stressed should be enhanced.
It was observed during the course of the meeting that Pakistan and Tunis should come forward for signing MOU and should hold trade exhibitions to introduce their products so that trade relations could further be strengthened.
Tauseef Zaman and Syed Adil Anis Vice Presidents, Zafar Bakhtawari and Mian Muhammad Ramzan were also present on the occasion.-SANA
