Funds are needed for completion of ongoing projects
ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology has directed the government to release the allocated funds to the ministry for the completion of on going projects. The committee also recommended lifting of the ban on recruitment of skilled labor workers in the ministry.
The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Zarina Alam Khan in Parliament House in which the committee reviewed the overall performance of the ministry. The committee also reviewed the new projects for the ministry passed for the year 2008-09.
The committee recognized that the progress in the fields of science and technology is very vital for the progress of the country. The committee also directed to the ministry of Science Technology to work closely with Agriculture Ministry to promote agriculture sector.
The committee also expressed concerns over not appointing any minister for the ministry and asked the government to solve the problem immediately. The committee also directed the ministry to improve its performance and asked it to make effective policies in the field of science and technology and implement the approved projects strictly.-SANA
