Rumors about the death of Taliban leader in Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud, late on Monday after suffering kidney failure made Chaand Raat lugubrious for some and cheered few in Pakistan. Mehsud is the head of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella organization for Islamist militant groups operating across Pakistan’s northwest. Based in the restive tribal agency of South Waziristan, Mehsud has also been accused of organizing waves of suicide attacks in Pakistan since last year, including masterminding the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

Mehsud, believed to be 36 years old, had been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure for almost a year and had reportedly lapsed into a coma a few days ago after hsi kidneys got failed. Mehsud did not like being photographed and usually kept his face covered while speaking to the media. Abdullah Mehsud a Taliban leader who was among the first captives set free from Guantanamo is sometimes described as Baitullah’s brother. Other sources merely assert that they were clansmen, or associates.

However the people from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan have vehemently denied the rumors saying he is not dead. One militant spokesman, based in the Swat Valley in northwest Pakistan, said: “I just spoke to a close aide of Beitullah Mehsud and he did not mention any such thing”, whilst a second commented that “our leadership is fine and healthy. There’s no serious illness”. In the United States, a Pentagon official said he could not confirm the suspected death.

And even if the Taliban chief’s death proves to be true, It will be a news that can help making image of Pakistan better.. and even if he dies with some illness; Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan will apparently seems to die with him. He was the man who gathered several Local Taliban group on one platform of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan is the main Taliban militant umbrella group in Pakistan comprising local Talibans. It is a Sunni (Deobandi) sectarian group allegedly involved in terrorist violence, primarily targeting minority Shia and majority Sunni (Barelvi) Muslims in Pakistan. It was formed in December 2007 under the leadership of Baitullah Mehsud. The deputy leader is Maulana Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Maulana Faqir Mohammed is third in command.

On other hand it was also found that In Pakistan, Tehrik Taliban Pakistan – has political aims and it seeks to capture and control territory. The Tehrik Taliban Pakistan is sponsored by the CIA, which provides it money, weapons and equipment. Baitullah Mehsud had been moving freely throughout the region promoting terrorism. His men possess the most-advanced communication and possibly even satellite intelligence. The Pakistani messes first came to know of this in the newspapers during the visit of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to the U.S., his staff showed evidence of CIA support to Tehrik Taliban Pakistan. I am sure he had no courage to tell U.S. that the ‘foreign support’ to Baitullah Mehsud came from the U.S.

An article titled ‘The Destabilization of Pakistan’ by Prof. Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research, Canada, in which it was revealed, before Feb. 18 elections, that U.S. sees an opportunity in the elections to advance its agenda and is supporting the terrorists inside Pakistan towards that end. He wrote:

“Washington will push for a compliant political leadership, with no commitment to the national interest, a leadership which will serve US imperial interests, while concurrently contributing under the disguise of “decentralization”, to the weakening of the central government and the fracture of Pakistan’s fragile federal structure.”…. “U.S. Special Forces are expected to vastly expand their presence. The official justification and pretext… to extend the “war on terrorism”. Concurrently, to justify its counter-terrorism program, Washington is also beefing up its covert support to the “terrorists.”

It has become apparent that the insurgency in the FATA and in NWFP is aided and abetted by the US. The objective is to weaken the control of federal government over the provinces and regions of Pakistan; goal should be achieved whatever by Islamists or by ethnic nationalists. BLA as well as Baitullah Mehsud has strong support. It maintains its contacts with the MQM, the ANP, Baloch Nationalists as well as the JUI. It came to court the PPP as it concluded it was not overly concerned with ‘national interests’.

Even if he BaitUllah Mehsud died; this support will be coming from outside and the objective to destabilize Pakistan will be achieved by any mean. So his successor will be encouraged and abetted by U.S. Before this happens Pakistan should decide to liquidate the so-called ‘Pakistani Taliban’ who are fighting aimlessly.
