My heart sighs to hear more feelings like these expressed in your article and to hear more people aware of and daring to say the truth with true figures you mentioned.
It's the first time I'm seeing your article, but there seems to be not much activity after October/ November 08??
I hope nothing stops you from kindling this light of hope...
I have friends who always worry and only sigh on these issues just like ourselves.. We may label it selfishness, but truth is I'm happy we are not the vampires like rulers of my country to date who live on blood of innocent aveerage person's blood and sweat.
Ok we did not dare to lead, but we will be happy to follow if we see a true leader of revolution, a leader who can dare for common man of my country and who can restore and enhance the honour of my beloved country Pakistan.. long live.. and live with honour.. My Pakistan.

Remarkable work…. You’ve truly played you’re part of being “the first drop of rain”. But still that’s not all about it we’ve to do a lot more… we have suffered a lot but now it’s the time to take things in our own hands…. And for that matter such kind of motivation is certainly required… Allah bless You.

Thanks Aysha. I appreciate your taking the time out to comment here. I would be indebted to anyone who wishes to make a difference for our beloved homeland. And there is a lot you can do. We shall discuss this soon on the group and I would appreciate contribution from you and others. Keep motivating others. Do read all that i have written here replying to others, that would give you a fair enough idea.

Dear Seema,

Thank you so much for your comments. We not only need to do all you suggested but a lot more. We also look forward to patronage from people like you who can motivate many others at various different platforms. We need to be consistent in our beliefs, and need to be more than that whilst convincing those aorund us, there is hope, there will be a change, and we must be the ones kindling the flame. Its a thing ordained, if only we believe. I interact with a lot of youth, some of what I hear disturbs me even more. They shift their loyalties in the name of hope, but when it is shattered it takes away a part of theri personality, that could have helped groom them in manners that could serve us as a nation in the times to come. My heart aches for such youth. These are foundations, Jinnah looked at with hope of a better tomorrow, and today a lot of that is being murdered by elements we elect and reelect. I have experienced such bitterness, I have it partly too, but I also see vigor unfueled, passion unignited and will undirected. All that is required is a spark. At times it hurts when I sense the fear of believing someone, the bitterness that makes it personal, and the lack of direction that adds to frustration. I cant use the word "They", as we are our own people. Everyone included. We are so we must work towards a common goal. I wish there were more like you and some more I have interacted with courtesy my article, but we need to do more than what this article suggests. A lot more. Come join us in the cause.

You have opened eyes for the educated who already knew this, in the back of their minds, but like true Pakistanis prefer to close their eyes to the truth. It is the 16 crores Awam, that needs to be educated and propelled to instill faith into a new leadership, as we are constantly, as you so aptly commented, reelecting the same political forces, that come forth to eat us like vermons.

Terrorism, in any form should be condemned severely. The Marriott incidence has just gone on to show the lack of apathy the higher ups show towards the common man faced with a challenge of trying to protect the echeloens of the nation....politicians and the army!!!

How is the common man safe???? Why build underpass, overpass and whichever pass you can think of when the common man has no Atta or food or clothing. it annoys me to the hilt when I read the amount allocated by the CM's or PM for improvement of traffic control or education....do we even know what is the plight of these people???

Let us pray that young men as yourself show or shed light on such issues and guide forth the coming generations so that we can think fo ourselves.

Good Day!

I am assuming your name's Lateef so I'll be omitting the X. We Thank you for sparing the time and writing in response to the article. I for one am a great believer of facts thus they had to be stated. as for not understanding the term "blood sucking vermins", thats the idea. I want people to think a little, independently, do some research. These are just terms we have heard all our lives. Then I speak of what they have become. The figures I state are courtesy who? And it shall point you in the right direction. Come join our community and give us your valuable feed back. Would look forward to it.

Syed - thanks for posting those statistics - they are often neglected. The 'refurbished' leadership point you made was great...what better way to describe the series of unpopular leaders the country has had to withstand. However, I don't understand much else of your commentary..I'm not sure what you mean or who you are referring to when you talk about 'blood sucking vermins.'

Thank you Nabil and yasser for your valuable comments. I agree that corruption is consuming us, selfish gains being a hurdle in the way of the common man. The rest of the attacks were also attacks on Pakistan and i see your point is very valid. But then we are not drawing a line, we are referring to all attacks from the towers charade to what happend at the marriott. We arent saying that is an attack on us. We are suggesting the attack is to follow, but we dont believe in conspiracy theories do we :)

The outcome is people die, widowers flirt, victims flash photos to gain sympathy, and then beg for money. Do you see the contrast. We have a bunch of people trying to adapt accoding to their intellect to blunders they make. There is no set plan but then puppets are reliant on the puppeteer.

The reason we write is to ask those who wish to make a difference to get people involved. You cant rely on hefty donations to make things happen. We have to got for a "pay it forward" sort of scenario, motivating each other, or even stressing like children do to get what they want. If a child knows what strings to pull to get the return it wishes, why cant us, together, motivating, reasoning or pursuading each other.

Just highlighting isn't the key. Assuming never does any one any good either. Its time to do things. Act insane but keep your focus on the cause. Be passionate, be obsessive, but yet reason and hold yourself accountable. Change requires generations it was mentioned, A revolution a genration. But we are looking for something else. We are looking for that first step. Why cant we do that? Do we not hold ourselves back for our selfish needs. All of us. We hide behind our jobs, our families, our responsibilities etc. But who said this isnt our responsibility. It always was, but we like giving it out to contractors, and its not the highest bidder we vote for, but the better actor respresenting the real bidder.

Its a classic case of mind over matter. We have to stop contemplating, and come up with a a plan. no accord needs to be signed here. We are not here to clean up anyones mess. We are the mess that has to become a mass, so that we are taken for living beings, who face things on a day to day basis.

We await your arrival. I mentioned I have found a believer in me. Thats one person. Would you try and find out a believer in you, and bring him along :)

Regards.

But then we are not drawing a line, we are referring to all attacks from the towers charade to what happend at the marriott. We arent saying that is an attack on us. We are suggesting the attack is to follow, but we dont believe in conspiracy theories do we

We have to got for a “pay it forward” sort of scenario, motivating each other, or even stressing like children do to get what they want. If a child knows what strings to pull to get the return it wishes, why cant us, together, motivating, reasoning or pursuading each other.

Just highlighting isn’t the key.

Would you try and find out a believer in you, and bring him along

Regards.

Another very important thing worth considering is how many people / civilians have the terrorists killed and how many have died in the so called precisions bombings. Who would persecute those responsible for the deaths of a million people. Germany went down for the world believed a 100,000 people were killed in gas chambers. Now we have seen and from their own sources that 1000,000 have lost their lives. Who should we hold responsible for that. We arent in a conventional war? Atleast that is what we hear from these voices that have been surrounding us for the past decade. When will the world see that, when will we open our eyes to it.

Another things worth looking into is that when we go back to where all these exptremist group started why do we find out that they were subservient to those who today claim to be driving other nations into pursuading them. Why is it that those once useful to them, all of a sudden switch to this extreme. I mean they were fighting their war then, and who knows they are fighting their war now. Who is the ultimate beneficiary?

Why are we not paying attention. This region is our home. Together with all neighbors involved we have driven away external forces who took us to the brink, why cant we do it again. These people may seem different but have more in common with us then those that claim to have warm hearts towards them and insistent on their well being.

If the regimes removed were so bad why is it that all this rage broke out after intevention, they sat peacefully, and if at all they had issues they were internal. If they needed to really correct in an innocent manner as they protray today, why not spend half of what they have on the war on those people, fund their country or invest there directly. Perhaps the interest is not to develop them, but they just happen to be on the globe where they are, in the way, obstructing something. Or maybe we have another heinous form of Big Game becoming fast popular with the west.

Africa remains a laboratory where pharmaceutical companies experiment, asia remains hunting grounds for innocent civilians in the name of welfare. Where are we headed, wake up.

Thank you Ambarish. Really appreciate you taking the time out to comment. The real people to blame are we ourselves. Terrorist dont come from some other planet but from within us. it is us who makes them into what they become. It doesn't matter where in the world they are, or what religion they may claim to belong to, they are, for we failed. When the masses elect people who are sold out, the masses give them the right to persecute and victimize for they serve someone else's policies and vendettas. Since the policies are enforced and have no affinity to the ground realities, retaliation or unacceptance is only natural. We wage others issues onto our people and expect them to just succumb to it. Its wrong. Unfortunately we also seem to show ignorance and label those who retaliate as terrorists first and then associate religion to it creating a further divide, literraly asking them to think of us as different. Since they are victms to begin with, its a part of their psyche to feel right about their stance and inadvertently we become wrong. The fault lies not in how we label them, or how we define ourselves to be different, but the very first set of actions that lead to their reaction, for the chain then continues.

So it all lies in our hands, we can manouver, and provided we do so correctly and based on a criterion sensitive to the needs of those aorund us we would never go wrong. for that we require people from the masses and not the ones who can afford to buy them, or rather have enough penetration to access those who we can sell them to.

If we date things back to where it all began, egos intervene and rationale goes out of the window. We succumb to our own egos not realizing that we serve a greater purpose if we were to rise above it. If its palestine, or kashmir or any other region, it doesnt matter. it all starts with opression and killings. The states have the powers tobuy the media rights and twist it to tilt the balance in their favor and what we see and how the reality is, its the biggest gagreal of all times. To cover one weakness, one mistake, we keep making several, till we have hundreds turn to thousand, and thousands into tens of thousands and by the time millions arrive the foundations are so shaky that we end up collapsing.

So in short, one needs to feel for the people and not just rely on state fed distortions. One must see that it is at the end of the day, common men, women and children who come under fire and loose their lives. Then we start wroking towards other mistakes to cover our tracks. I am not speaking of one country, one nation or one government. i speak of a global phenomenon, how it all began and the mutated beings that threaten us today, by virtue of planting a bomb or exploding with it, are all courtesy to the tests we run on them.

I hope we all understand these issues and rise above them for a greater cause, a cleaner environment, where all that survives of us is love and peace.

This article is indeed the hard truth which all of us know and feel, however we choose to look the other way, WHY, because our entire nation, (by nation I mean people who could make a difference) are indulged in maintaining their status in the so called fake Pakistani social arena, look at it this way , by realizing the facts and addressing the core issues, rising a voice, we threaten our corrupted livelihoods, whatever people have worked for (legitimate 10% illegitimate 90%) goes up for stakes. Changing the behavior of this country means sacrificing an entire generation in the cause, well, u and me might go for it and think it’s worthwhile but have you thought of those people who work so hard for selfish gains and kickbacks, we house a pandemic of corruption, educated illiteracy, lack of values and we seriously have no direction, our people have a lot of knowledge but lack the capacity to convert this knowledge into wisdom.
Now coming back to the point, once we have corrected the above negative influences in our society only and only then can we stand up as a NATION presently our international projection is that of a crowed, with a lot of nuisance value.
Why do we think that the incident at the Marriott is an attack on Pakistan, why wasn’t the attack on POF or any other bombing, which happen on regular basis, considered an attack on Pakistan?

I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, why? Because any successful conspiracy requires a mole within the conspired society and unfortunately we have an abundance of people willing to play their game at the Nation’s stake, Which brings us back to point no.1, !!!SELFISH GAINS!!!!
It is a vicious circle one action feeds another…we need to cleanse our society first, and then stand up as a united front against aggression.
