World leaders felicitate Zardari

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sunday felicitated and extended best wishes to PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on his election as the President of Pakistan. “In this new historic period, the Chinese side would like to make joint efforts with the Pakistani side to promote our traditional friendship, build a glorious future together, bring the Sino-Pak strategic Partnership of Cooperation to a new high and be good neighbours, good friends, good brothers as well as good partners for ever”, the Hu Jintao said.

The Chinese President said, over the past 57 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Pakistan have politically been enjoying mutually beneficial, treating each other as equals, economically conducting mutually beneficial cooperation and common development, resulting in remarkable achievements and continuous expansion of exchanges and cooperation in many other areas. “We have also been supporting each other and maintaining close coordination in international and regional affairs.” “China and Pakistan are good neighborly countries linked by common mountains and rivers, and our peoples are enjoying profound all-weather friendship,” Hu Jintao said in a message addressed to President-elect Asif Ali Zardari. The Chinese President prayed for prosperity of Pakistan and the well-being of its people. “May the Sino-Pak friendship be carried on from one generation to another and ever-growing”

Afghan President Hamid Karzai would attend the oath taking ceremony of newly-elected President Asif Ali Zardari. President-elect Asif Ali Zardari has invited his Afghan counterpart to attend his oath-taking ceremony scheduled to take place next week, the Afghan government said Sunday. Karzai, expressed the hope that relations between the two Islamic countries would further improve, the statement added. A private TV channel (ARYONEWORLD) reported quoting a statement of the Afghan government, adding that Karzai has accepted the invitation.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh congratulating Asif Ali Zardari on his election as President of Pakistan, said the ushering of democracy in Pakistan opened new opportunities for both the countries to work together to bring the fruits of peace, prosperity and development to our region. In a felicitation message to the new President, Manmohan Singh expressing desire of his government and the people of India to build ties of friendship and partnership between akistan and India said “in your new office, you will find a friend in India.”

Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sunday congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on his election as President of Pakistan. Talking to a private TV channel, he expressed the hope that Asif Ali Zardari will accelerate the efforts to resolve the lingering issue of Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people for lasting peace in the region.
