No one allowed to challenge govt writ in FATA: Malik

NOWSHERA: Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik has said that law and order will be maintained in tribal areas at all costs and no one would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government. He was addressing a news conference here on Friday after meeting with the JUI(S) chief Maulana Sami ul Haq.

He said a grand Jirga will be organized in Peshawar soon as part of efforts to end factional fighting in Kurram Agency. He said the government, at present, is not using force in Kurram to avoid collateral damage. But he said the action could be taken if the present situation prevailed. Regarding Bajaur, he said operation has been suspended there in view of the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan and facilitate the displaced families to return to their homes.

Rehman Malik said the government has decided to provide all necessary facilities to the tribal people including health and education to address their sense of deprivation. He said in the first phase, development process will be started in two tribes. Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Sami ul Haq said his faction will cooperate with the government in restoring peace in tribal areas.-SANA
