FATA MPAs to support Zardari
ISLAMABAD: Members National Assembly and Senators from FATA have expressed their support for PPP’s presidential candidate Asif Ali Zardari. After their meeting with Mr. Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in Islamabad on Friday, leader of the FATA parliamentary group Munir Orakzai said they whole-heartedly support Mr. Zardari in the elections. He hoped that in the leadership of Mr. Zardari peace would be established in FATA.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Asif Ali Zardari thanked members from FATA and said Peoples Party would continue to work for reconciliation and peace. Prime Minister Gilani said the decision of FATA members is reflective of their political wisdom and maturity. He said Peoples Party is a federal party and Mr. Zardari symbol of the federation and by extending support to him FATA members are strengthening the federation.
Meanwhile talking to media person on the occasion, Prime Minister said the decision of the FATA representatives would help formulate a consensus policy on the region. He said the FATA situation and foreign policy would be debated in the National Assembly. The new Government wants to change the foreign policy and change policy of former President Pervez Musharraf.
The Prime Minister said security of the country is our collective responsibility and we would fulfill this responsibility. He said there is need for solidarity in the country to meet the challenges ahead. The Prime Minister hosted an Iftar dinner in honour of FATA MNAs and Senators. Speaking on the occasion he said the Government believes in the supremacy of the parliament and take all forces along in the progress and development of the country. He said the parliament would decide about 17th amendment and article 58/2(B) of the constitution.-SANA
